Singapore (September 4, 2009). The year 2009 is being tipped as the ‘Year of the Deal’ when online travel in Asia will come into its own. Online travel agencies operating in the region are still reporting growth in transaction volumes albeit yields are down. Low cost carriers are expanding and aggressively promoting cheap fares on their websites. Hotel groups are also introducing online sales, group-wide discounts and value offers on their websites. Singapore/Berlin (November 6, 2009). "Yes, it was right to start up the ITB Asia." Dr Martin Buck, Director of Messe Berlin (Singapore) doesn't regret the expensive decision to create an Asian offshoot of the world's biggest tourism trade fair. The second time the event took place, this time in the Singapore Suntec Convention Centre, just two weeks ago, management were able to show good results in spite of the economic crisis. On closer inspection though, movements on the market are reflected - as they are everywhere. The hotel industry was accordingly less well represented. Successful for the second time: ITB Asia to establish itself

The Berlin Trade Fair (Messe Berlin) begins preparations for the ITB Berlin, which will take place between 10 and 14 March 2010, with positive trend announcements. This year, the event in Berlin will receive an additional push from the ITB Asia. The second trade fair of the Asian travel industry will take place in Singapore between 21 and 23 October.
